Buhajar is not just about business, but has an unshakable belief that prevails within the group that its member companies, owners, and employees are a serious force for good in the societies in which they work. This is best highlighted in the work of the Buhajar Foundation, which has pressed ahead with game-changing social initiatives that are unique in Libya today.

For many years the Buhajar Foundation has participated in a wide range of philanthropic initiatives and is presently spearheading eight diverse and sustainable social programs. So important is the foundation to everyone within the business that all of the group’s activities are focused on ensuring the foundation’s continued success. This commitment is manifest from the funding of the foundation from Buhajar’s annual profits to the active involvement of all members of the group.

Poverty and conflicts have left many in the region without some of the basic necessities and with their homes in disrepair. For many years the Foundation has participated in a wide range of philanthropic initiatives. It has generously given new clothes to those in need and helped in the repair of damaged homes.

Since our establishment, the Foundation has fed the underprivileged by providing Iftar meals during the holy month of Ramadan and by distributing excess food from hotels, banquets, and wedding parties during the rest of the year. It has also been our privilege to sponsor several people in fulfilling their lifelong dream of visiting the holy sites in Saudi Arabia (Ummrah).

Education

Education should never be considered a luxury but a guaranteed right for all people. Buhajar Foundation is dedicated to helping the newest generation achieve its potential, so we sponsor several students to complete their school or university studies.

We also developed the Our Youth program where young students are trained in retail. During their training all students receive a monthly monetary incentive and after graduation they are employed initially by Buhajar Group. Having pioneered this initiative, collaboration with other businesses in the region is ongoing in order to produce more programs to train even more candidates.

sports

A healthy body is the greatest gift given to us but one that we have to work on to keep. Therefore, Buhajar Foundation sponsors several schools for a Sport and Health Week in which the students are offered healthy food alternatives and sports activities in order to promote a healthy lifestyle. We also sponsor talented athletes through MaxxFit and develop them develop their sports career.

We are particularly proud of our participation in providing a state-of-the-art sport facility for the physically challenged citizens in our community. As a corporation and on a personal level, we take the health and wellness of all citizens seriously.
